Awards and Scholarships

Several awards and semesterly scholarships have been initiated at DSC. Academic excellence and industry performance though crucial are not the only parameters. An overall evolvement, integrity and the sheer grit and determination to prove are other significant components.

1. The Apex awards are presented annually to students standing Ist , IInd and IIIrd in the overall order of merit.

2. Dr. J M Sengupta Memorial Award – Awarded to the student standing first in International Marketing. The award has been instituted by Prof. A K Sengupta, Former Dean, IIFT & JIMS, since our inception, in memory of his respected father.

3. The Sanat Lahiri Memorial Award for the student standing first in Public Relations. Institutionalised in memory of Mr. Sanat Lahiri.

4. Anjali Devi Memorial Award – Awarded for the most outstanding Thesis. Students are encouraged to do original work in an area of their interest – as a contribution to new knowledge and integrative learning spread over a period of 2 years.

5. The BR JASSAL MEMORIAL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE in STRATEGY – Awarded to the student standing first in Strategy. The subject encompasses the whole gamut of knowledge, attitudes, processes and action in the direction – “TO WIN”.

6. THE HIMANI DEVI AWARD for the complete woman: Awarded in applause to the dignity, strength and beauty of the eternal woman.

7. Award for Cultural Studies: In memory of Late Prof. Surojit Lahiri, founding father, DSC and Marketing guru who foresaw the significant role that an appreciation of global cultures would play in the very lives of future professionals and corporate leaders.

8. The Dean’s Scholarship: The Dean’s scholarship is awarded on two occasions in the DSC programme. Upto 30,000/- is awarded to two students, on admission to DSC, for their outstanding academic and co-curricular performance. Students interested in availing the scholarship may submit a written Statement of Purpose along with the application form. Kindly contact the institute for the topic of the SOP.
Upto Rs 30,000/- is also awarded during the semesters. Based on the students academic performance and industry feedback during internships, this scholarship is awarded every alternate semesters.

9. The Surojit Lahiri Memorial Award for Holistic Excellence – The highest award at DSC. Awarded to the student holding a steadfast conviction in the right moral application of knowledge.

The award is unique, in that the winner is selected annually a process involving the entire active DSC family. The entire student body- both the graduating  class as well as the junior class  and office bearers vote, selecting the student whom we feel is most deserving of this very special and highly cherished award.
